British Columbia:

This page is a photo journal of our trip to British Columbia in the summer of 2007 in search of seaweed and diatoms to barcode.

Dan, Hana, Sarah, Kat and Bridgette do a pretty poor job of hiding their attempted theft of the Diver Statue in Sidney, B.C.
Normal people take a picnic basket to the park, we take bags of seaweed and more newspaper than you'd find at a corner store.
Pretty Chaetomorpha in a bag.
Our nice campsite in Duncan.
Following a visit to Professor Finkelsteinapplebiter's lab and a minor, very insignificant accident with his prototype shrinking ray, the gang poses casually for a photo next to a couple of tree seedlings.
Our campsite at Pachena.
Dan and Hana model the latest fashions in rain pants. Practical and sexy.
Postelsia palmaeformis, or the brown algae's answer to the palm tree, only miniature and a million times better. Coconuts kill. Postelsia spores can only love.
Our very own Mermaid's Lagoon. We were hoping to find Peter Pan rescuing Tiger Lily from Captain Hook, but alas, only barnacles and a couple of pixies.
After much discussion, our spirited scientists decided to seek their seaweed by the sea shore instead of in the forest.
What Hana, Dan, and Bridgette look like from far away.
After 38 days of not showering, Bridgette lost her marbles and became convinced that a giant squid wanted to steal her hat.
Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre. Can you guess which building's design is based on a mollusk shell? If you guessed the building on the far left, which is based on the Canadian square clam, you are correct. Good for you.
